LOSING MONEY SELLING CANNABIS

WHAT KIND OF A DEALER, ER RETAILER, CAN'T MAKE MONEY SELLING WEED?  Only Doug Ford’s Conservatives.

That’s right. ICYMI the Ontario Cannabis Retail Corporation lost $42 million in the last fiscal year. Not only that, but they are on pace to do the same again.

We thought the only way to lose money selling pot was to use too much of the product personally, and we have no evidence to suggest that happened at the Ontario Weed Corp, but why did all that money go up in smoke?

Sad to say, but it looks like poor planning and bad management. The government screwed up the rollout, only allowed a handful of stores to open and didn’t have suppliers lined up to provide the product to their customers. But maybe we shouldn’t be surprised when a Premier whose only business is in running a small labeling company attempts to run a major operation like his Dad’s old business.

Neither he nor his cronies know how to make money when they have to compete for business.

LCBO know how ignored

Someone who did know how to run a successful regulated business in Ontario was the Liquor Control Board of Ontario that Premier Dougie spurned.

Under the original plan to sell cannabis they had 80 fully operational, safe and secure, retail sites that could have been open on day one. They know how to make a profit and could have delivered one to the people of Ontario, instead of a $42 million, and growing, loss.

Doug Ford’s Ontario is open for business. Just not for the ones that benefit the people of the province.
